Bookings for a VERY limited number of places for custom stretch tutus open are now OPEN!!

This is a longish post, but please read to the end if you would like to book a place for 2026 🙏

I am offering two rounds. The first suits dancers who need a new tutu in time for the W.A. April school holidays. The second will be ready in time for the W.A. June long weekend. I will open up bookings for later in 2026 closer to the time.

I need to start the first round before the beginning of first term, so you do need to know what your tutu requirements are by the time we meet. The start of Round Two overlaps with the previous round so that I can order materials and be ready to start immediately on those orders when Round One is finished.

I usually need a total of three appointments at my home in Myaree to complete a tutu. Please check the dates in the first image to make sure that you will be available. The prices in the second image are a guide only.

If I am able to offer you a place, I will email you my full booking information and conditions, and an invoice for a non-refundable deposit.

Please note: we have two very curious Burmese cats, who you will almost certainly meet when you visit me. If you or your dancer is allergic to cats, I may not be the tutu maker for you.

One last look (for now!) at this tutu! ❤️ It started with a fully lined black leotard, with inserts front and back, and modified for attached sleeves. A nine layer skirt of black net was topped with a red net layer overlayed with black glitter tulle.Gold Venise lace motifs and trims embellish the bodice, sleeves and skirt and sparkle was added with a mix of more than 600 Swarovski and Preciosa stones in Light Siam, Siam , Aurum and Crystal Nightfall shades. A beaded rose headpiece completes the costume 🌹

The chance to make an ‘Alice Through the Looking

The chance to make an ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ demi-character costume was a once only opportunity to combine sewing for ballet with my other passion for making dresses (usually just for me! 😁).

So I consulted Ruth McCormack’s useful Party Dress notes available from @tutusthatdance on adjusting garment patterns for ballet. I then applied these tips to drafting a bodice using the Charm Patterns Princess Sloper by @gertie18 (a bonus release for Gertie Patreon in 2024). The bodice was flatlined with coutil and the neckline was finished with piping, which are both tutu bodice techniques. The sleeves are drafted to have gathers at the bottom of the sleeve.

The skirt is made from the Charm Patterns Lamour 3/4 circle skirt. I drafted an inner basque and added a two layer romantic skirt petticoat and attached that at the waist.

Gretchen Hirsch’s amazing Patreon pattern range also provided a pattern for the bib of the apron, using the Stanwyck bib.

I started making my own clothes after I started Perth Tutus because I wanted to wear my own sewing if I was going to sell it. My sewing skills from each have benefited the other so many times. I haven’t made quite as many dresses as I have tutus, but it’s getting close!

A leotard of navy blue velvet was the starting point for this tutu, with a skirt graduating from navy blue to ivory and cream top layers, with some layers custom dyed. The skirt was topped with a fine metallic lace and a velvet peplum edged with Venise trim. Over 850 Preciosa crystals ✨in shades of Dark Indigo, Crystal Honey, Blond Flare and Smoked Topaz were added to make this tutu shine on stage. A beaded headpiece and arm puffs completed the costume.

The dancer requested purple to complement the ‘Bonnie Blue’ lycra that she selected. I incorporated her request by including subtle purple shades in the skirt, and using Preciosa Pale Lilac and Vitrail Light stones combined with Light Sapphire and clear crystals to add a beautiful twinkle to the white lace.
